Atlanta Psychoeducational Consulting provides direct support to schools, individual private psychoeducational evaluations, private clinical psychological evaluations, and individual/family psychotherapy aimed to improved outcomes for our client base. Atlanta Psychoeducational Consulting provides the following services:
Consultation
- Collaborate with educators and parents to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems.

Clinical Child Psychology
Clinical child psychology is a specialty in professional psychology that develops and applies scientific knowledge to the delivery of psychological services to infants, toddlers, children and adolescents within their social context.
Specialized Knowledge
Of particular importance to the specialty of clinical child psychology is an understanding of the basic psychological needs of children and adolescents, and how the family and other social contexts influence the socio-emotional adjustment, cognitive development, behavioral adaptation and health status of children and adolescents. The specialty of clinical child psychology involves the study, assessment and treatment of a wide range of interrelated biological, psychological and social problems experienced by children and adolescents.
These include but are not limited to the following:
- Biological vulnerabilities.
- Emotional and developmental problems.
- Significant mental disorders.
- Cognitive deficits.
- Trauma and loss.
- Health related problems.
- Stress and coping related to developmental change.
- Problems in social context.
Skills and Procedures Utilized
Clinical child psychology employs a wide range of procedures and skills addressing the population of infants, toddlers, children and adolescents. Essential skills and procedures include:
- Assessment (e.g., psychological, intellectual, cognitive, behavioral testing and evaluation).
- Intervention (e.g., psychotherapy and behavior management).
- Development of prevention programs (e.g., bullying, addictions, teen pregnancy, obesity).
- Consultation with other professionals working with children.
- Design and utilization of research.
School Psychology
Atlanta Psychoeducational Consulting provides comprehensive school-based psychological services and related educational consultation to public, private, and charter schools in response to referrals for special education consideration and placement. APC provides these services in accordance with the standards of quality prevailing in the field of School Psychology, and state and federal rules and regulations that govern special education.
We are comprised of certified school psychologists providing support to students, school personnel and parents. All of our school psychologists received their educational training and graduate degrees from National Association of School Psychologist (NASP) approved programs.
We are knowledgeable and trained in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.
The School Psychologist consults with school personnel identifying students who have learning and/or adjustment difficulties; conducts comprehensive, psycho-educational evaluations which include review of records; formal testing/informal testing; observation of the student’s functioning in the classroom and other settings to analyze learning and behavior difficulties; interviews with the student, teacher(s), administrators, and/or outside agencies. Our school-based work in this area includes:
- Documents evaluation results and completes required reports within Federal, State, and local timelines.
- Consults and communicates with teachers, parents, and school personnel regarding the results of all relative evaluation information and assists school teams in linking evaluative data to appropriate student interventions.
- Participates in the decision-making process to determine appropriate services for all students.
- Conducts or participates in data collection and evaluation to determine the usefulness and effectiveness of psychological services and various educational programs in the system.
- Adheres to Federal, State, and local guidelines and policies in the provision of School Psychological services.
- Participates on Student Support Teams as an academic and behavioral consultant Supervises school psychology interns as necessary.
Behavioral Support
We employ Behavior Specialists that develops behavior plans, specific intervention plans, and functional behavior assessments (FBA) for students and assist in their implementation. Including using appropriate resources and technology to promote development of critical thinking, problem solving, and pro-social behavior in students, working with students in classrooms to reach goals as determined by their educational plan, and conducting ongoing follow-up assessment/evaluation/observation of progress on the behavior plans. Our school-based work in this area includes:
- Assist teachers in the identification and development of individualized behavior interventions intended to change behaviors; using evidence based strategies.
- Collect data regarding student behaviors and recommend appropriate instructional modifications to develop responsible thinking and decision-making skills in students. Identify and implement appropriate interventions for students in need of additional assistance.
- Develop the skills and self-esteem necessary for identified students to exercise meaningful options in areas of school, leisure, and inter/intra personal relationships.
- Provide support to students who display impulsive behaviors, low self-esteem, and impaired social skills.
- Work in a collaborative manner with peers and school personnel to ensure successful and efficient transitioning for students to return to his/her home school to include the creation of Transition Plans.
- Present professional development for administrators and teachers on behavior intervention, substance abuse, anger management, as well as other topics and support the staff in the implementation of their new learning.
- Assist families and school staff in accessing community resources.
- Provide support and informational workshops to parents.
- Conduct research of current behavior interventions related to students served.
- Assure that all internal communication is complete and effective.
- Keep teachers and other staff informed of progress, incidents and concerns.
Special Education Compliance & Monitoring
We provide Special Education Compliance & Monitoring school-based services to supports school administrators and teachers in providing effective educational programs for all students with disabilities; assumes responsibility for the knowledge and application of the appropriate curriculum and the instructional programs for students with disabilities; and complies with all federal, state, and district due process, policies, and procedures. Our school-based work in this area includes:
- Models and supports special education instructional staff in organizing, identifying, and implementing curriculum including Common Core Curriculum and the adapted curriculum.
- Support quality classroom instruction and its improvement in all settings through monitoring, observing, model teaching and coaching; assists teachers in improving classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods.
- Review and ensure that students with disabilities are receiving effective instruction in the Least Restrictive Environment; assist school staff in organizing curriculum and utilizing strategies for students with disabilities.
- Participate in professional learning activities and plan/deliver professional learning activities to staff, parents, and others to increase achievement for students with disabilities.
- Collaborate with parents and local school staff regarding instructional decision-making for students with disabilities.
- Complete educational assessments for students referred for testing/evaluation; monitor assessment timelines to ensure adherence to State regulations.
- Maintain communication with special education staff, local school personnel, and parents regarding the referral, evaluation, identification, and effective programming for students with disabilities.
- Maintain student confidentiality and monitor confidential files for students with disabilities.
- Consult with local instructional staff regarding Individual Education Program (IEP) development, extended school year, behavioral interventions, and transition activities for special needs students.
- Collaborate with appropriate school-based personnel to assure accurate documentation and timely data input/submission for students with disabilities.
- Assign and/or conduct staff meetings to develop IEPs. Attend all appropriate IEP meetings (i.e. Amendments, Eligibility Redetermination, Initial Eligibility meetings).
- Review, monitor and meet timelines for IEPs, referrals, initial eligibilities, and re-evaluations; monitor Full Time Equivalent (FTE) counts and the Student Record (SR) process during the school year.
Vocational Rehabilitation Evaluations & Counseling
Vocational rehabilitation evaluation and counseling services are provided to adult clients. We provide counseling to adult clients with disabilities, including vocational and psychosocial adjustment counseling, throughout the rehabilitation process. Identifies and develops prospective employment opportunities through assistive technology and job modification methods.
We administer and interprets educational, vocational and/or psychological tests in accordance with guidelines. Observes rules of confidentiality in the dissemination and interpretation of tests results. Provides information to educate the public, other agencies, vendors and potential customers about rehabilitation services.
